KrAZ-255 is a Ukrainian military truck. The first examples of this vehicle appeared in the mid-1960s, and mass production was carried out in 1967-1994. The drive is provided by a single 8-cylinder YaMZ-238 engine with a capacity of 240 hp.
The KrAZ-255 was developed and produced at the Ukrainian AvtoKraz plant as a development of the KrAZ-214 vehicle. Compared to the original, several changes were made, in particular: the brake and pneumatic systems were improved, and a more powerful engine was used. The KrAZ-255 was characterized by significant traction, good load capacity and high mobility even in difficult terrain. Many specialized vehicles, such as a technical support vehicle, were developed on its basis. Vehicles of this type were widely used in the Warsaw Pact countries (including Poland), but were also exported to many third world countries. It is interesting to note that the average fuel consumption per 100 kilometers reached 42 liters.
